Day 9 base camp Everest

Writer's picture: Neil HardingNeil Harding

"Yesterday, the due day of our arrival at our destination of Base Camp, did

not go quite as planned! The good news is . we made it!!! The bad news is

that John and I are still in the locality waiting to be evacuated off the

mountain by helicopter. Early in the day, I sustained a leg injury as a

result of a fall. Although I made it to our destination, there was no way I

was going to make it all the way back down the hill - once the boot was off

to inspect the damage, it was definitely not going back on again.

The weather conditions right up until yesterday had been brilliant - bright

blue skies albeit very cold. As can be seen from yesterday's photographs,

the weather really closed in with snow and wind meaning impossible

conditions for the helicopter to get through until there is some

improvement.

It's been a gruelling trip and I am disappointed that my journey has not

turned out as anticipated. Nevertheless, we made it to Everest Base Camp

and that's the most important thing.

Please keep donating to the best of good causes."
